Kering: departure of Gucci's Creative Director
(CercleFinance.com) - Kering announced Thursday that it has decided to end its collaboration with Sabato De Sarno, the creative director of its phase-brand Gucci, less than two years after he took up his post.
Due to his departure, the Italian label's Autumn-Winter 2025 show, scheduled for 25 February in Milan, will be presented by the Italian house's creative studio.
Sabato De Sarno, who was officially appointed Creative Director in January 2023, had received a rather mixed reception for his first collection at Fashion Week in September 2023.
The end of this collaboration does not come as a real surprise from our point of view, given Gucci's underperformance relative to its peers since his appointment, RBC analysts reacted.
According to the Canadian broker, the appointment of a new creative director represents a "necessary" step to relaunch the brand and regain recently lost market share.
On the Paris stock exchange, Kering shares nevertheless lost 2.5% in the wake of this announcement, posting by far the biggest drop in the CAC 40 index.
In a press release, Kering states that the name of the new head of Gucci's artistic direction will be announced 'in due course'.
