Veolia: cold recovery for decarbonation
(CercleFinance.com) - Veolia, Enagás and Barcelona City Council inaugurate an innovative solution for recovering residual cold at the Port of Barcelona's LNG terminal.
The system generates 131 GWh of carbon-free energy per year, avoiding the emission of over 32,000 tonnes of CO2. The cold is recycled to supply the urban cold network, serving local infrastructures and the Mercabarna, Barcelona's main food market. In addition, Veolia and Enagás have signed an agreement to develop commercial opportunities and to copy and adapt the cold recovery solution in LNG terminals, both in Spain and internationally.
