GM: plans to join F1 in 2026 with Cadillac team

(CercleFinance.com) - General Motors announces a partnership with TWG Global to enter Formula 1 in 2026 with a 'Cadillac' team.

The project includes the development of an F1 power unit, with the aim of making Cadillac a 'full works' team (i.e. building chassis and engine in-house) by the end of the decade.

Cadillac will be the first new team to join F1 since 2016, bringing to eleven the number of teams entered in motorsport's premier class.

GM plans to use innovations from F1 to strengthen its technologies in electrification, powertrains and software, while promoting the Cadillac brand globally.

Mario Andretti, the last American F1 champion, will sit on the team's board. Since 2023, Cadillac Formula 1 has assembled an international team, with operations in the United States and England, to develop innovative technical solutions.
