Rio Tinto: aluminium partnership in Finland

(CercleFinance.com) - Rio Tinto announces a partnership with Vargas, Mitsubishi Corporation and others to study a low-carbon aluminum project in Kokkola, Finland.


The project, which would use Rio Tinto's AP60 technology, would mark the first implementation of this technology outside Quebec.

A feasibility study and environmental impact assessment are planned, with a low-carbon energy supply in partnership with Fortum.

If realized, this would be the first primary aluminum development in continental Europe in over 30 years.
