Siemens: agreement for Madrid metro project
(CercleFinance.com) - Siemens Mobility announces an agreement with leading Spanish rolling stock manufacturer CAF (Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles, S.
A.) to supply propulsion systems for Metro de Madrid's new trains.
CAF recently signed two contracts with Metro de Madrid to replace the old narrow-gauge and wide-gauge fleets.
Siemens Mobility, in collaboration with CAF, has developed a state-of-the-art propulsion system for both fleets, aimed at improving the efficiency of the new trains and creating the best vehicles for Metro de Madrid.
These trains will be equipped with traction inverters, motors and braking resistors, guaranteeing optimum performance under dual-voltage catenaries (1,500 V and 600 V).
