Safran: a new blade certified by the FDA and EASA

(CercleFinance.com) - Safran announced today that the U.
S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) have certified a new high-pressure turbine blade for the CFM LEAP-1A engine powering the Airbus A320neo family.

This part has been designed to increase under-wing life, particularly in severe and hot environments.

' This new part reinforces our promise that LEAP will achieve the same levels of maturity, durability and on-wing life that our customers have voted for on the CFM56 engine family,' said Gaël Méheust, president and CEO of CFM International.

Safran points out that the CFM LEAP engine range offers a 15-20% reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, as well as a significant improvement in noise compared with previous-generation engines.
