STMicroelectronics: first module produced with Qualcomm

(CercleFinance.com) - On Wednesday, STMicroelectronics unveiled the first product to emerge from its strategic collaboration with Qualcomm, a new component designed to simplify the development of wireless applications for the industrial and Internet of Things (IoT) sectors.


The module, dubbed 'ST67W611M1', combines ST's STM32 microcontroller with Qualcomm Technologies' wireless connectivity technologies, based on a Wi-Fi6, Bluetooth 5.3 and Thread system-on-chip (SoC).

In a press release, the two partners state that this is just the beginning of their cooperation in the fields of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, AI and 5G technologies.

STMicroelectronics and Qualcomm formalized their strategic collaboration in the field of the wireless Internet of Things last October.

While initial samples of the ST67W611M1 are already available to customers, ST and Qualcomm do not expect to make them available to manufacturers before the first quarter of 2025, with an actual launch planned for the second quarter.
