USA: +17,000 weekly jobless claims
(CercleFinance.com) - The Department of Labor announced that 242,000 new U.
S. jobless claims were registered for the week ending December 2, up 17,000 on the previous week.
The four-week moving average - more representative of the underlying trend - stood at 224,250, up 5,750 on the previous week.
Finally, the number of people receiving regular benefits rose by 15,000 to 1,886,000 in the week to November 25, the most recent period available for this statistic.
