BAE Systems: tactical radio system contract with the US Navy
(CercleFinance.com) - Data Link Solutions (DLS), a joint venture between BAE Systems and Collins Aerospace, announces that it has been awarded an IDIQ (Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity) contract by the US Navy, worth up to $1 billion, for a multifunctional tactical radio system known as 'MIDS JTRS' (Multifunctional Information Distribution System Joint Tactical Radio System).
The contract includes the production, upgrades, development and maintenance of MIDS JTRS terminals, used for jamming-resistant communications linking sea, land and air forces via the Link 16 network.
This system promotes interoperability in complex and contested mission environments, enabling the exchange of tactical data in real time.
MIDS JTRS, a four-channel software-defined radio, is deployed on aircraft such as the F-15 and F/A-18, as well as on ships and command systems.
