BASF: ingredients portfolio sold to Louis Dreyfus
(CercleFinance.com) - BASF announced on Monday the sale of its portfolio of performance food and health ingredients to raw materials trading giant Louis Dreyfus.
The chemical giant states that this binding agreement includes the sale of its Illertissen site (Germany), as well as the transfer of around 300 employees.
In a press release, BASF explains that these activities generate only "limited" synergies with the rest of its businesses, and no longer represent a strategic market from its point of view.
BASF's food performance and health ingredients division manufactures - among other things - whipping agents, aerating emulsifiers, conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) and omega-3 oils for the human food industry
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
