GM: global sales up 4% in 2024
(CercleFinance.com) - General Motors believes it achieved a 'solid performance' in 2024, with higher sales in the US and an increase in market share.
The group reports that its overall sales rose by 4% in 2024, to 2.7 million vehicles, its highest level since 2019.
GM estimates its market share at 16.5% for 2024 and reports that all its brands - Chevrolet, GMC, Buick and Cadillac - recorded strong sales growth.
Group Q4 sales were up 21% y-o-y.
Sales of electric vehicles jumped by 50% for the quarter and 125% for the year, almost doubling their market share over the course of the year.
GM was thus the 2nd largest seller of electric vehicles in the US in H2 2024. The group says it sold 43,982 electric vehicles in Q4 in the US, claiming a market share of around 12%.
It's been an excellent year for us across all our product lines, says Rory Harvey, GM Executive Vice President and President of Global Markets.
Finally, the automaker reports that the average transaction price was around $53,000 in Q4, a figure that is well above the industry average, while spending on incentives per vehicle continues to decline, GM says.
