Nokia: over 7,000 patent families for 5G

(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia says it has passed the milestone of 7,000 patent families declared essential to 5G, placing the Finnish network equipment manufacturer in a leading position for the 6G standardization that will begin later this year.


Its core inventions in 5G include innovations in 5G radio protocol design, 5G security and interface technologies that define how connected devices interact with 5G networks.

Nokia's portfolio, backed by over E150bn invested in R&D and standardization since 2000, consists of more than 20,000 patent families, with each family having several individual patents.
