Bayer: completes acquisition of Camelina assets
(CercleFinance.com) - Bayer announces acquisition of Camelina assets from Smart Earth Camelina to advance biofuels.
Bayer acquires camelina germplasm and intellectual property assets from Smart Earth Camelina to meet growing demand for renewable fuel.
Bayer thus extends its leading position in biomass-based feedstocks while offering producers an additional source of income.
'Overall, the aim is to contribute to the decarbonization of the transport sector by advancing innovative crops for low-carbon biofuels, including renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel' says the group.
' We are committed to supporting farmers' ability to meet the growing demand for low-carbon feedstocks from biomass, by investing in and developing new intermediate oilseed crops such as camelina and advancing sustainable cropping systems', said Frank Terhorst, head of strategy and sustainability at Bayer's Crop Science division.
