Airbus: two Caracal helicopters delivered to the French army

(CercleFinance.com) - Airbus Helicopters, an Airbus subsidiary, announced on Friday that it had delivered two H225M 'Caracal' helicopters to the French defense procurement agency (Direction Générale de l'Armement - DGA), to equip the French air and space force.


These helicopters, designed for combat search and rescue, tactical transport and medical evacuation missions, will replace the Puma helicopters currently operating in French Guiana, New Caledonia and Djibouti.

They can carry up to 28 people at speeds ranging from 267 km/h in cruise mode to 324 km/h at top speed, over distances of between 650 and 1300 km.

These deliveries are the first two of an order for eight aircraft placed in April 2021 under the Airbus Helicopters aeronautical support plan.

In addition to France, Airbus customers for the H225M Caracal include Malaysia, Indonesia, Iraq, Thailand, Singapore, Mexico, the Netherlands, Kuwait, Brazil and Hungary.
