Technip Energies: CO2 capture project in UK

(CercleFinance.com) - Technip Energies announced Thursday that it has been selected by Germany's Uniper to provide front-end engineering design (FEED) services for a new carbon capture gas-fired power plant in the UK.

The French group has been appointed to provide, with the help of Balfour Beatty and GE Vernova, the services for the integration of the gas-fired combined-cycle power plant (CCGT) with carbon capture and storage.

During this first phase, Technip Energies will use its proprietary carbon capture solution 'Canopy by T.EN' carbon capture solution, itself based on Shell's 'Cansolv' CO2 capture technology.

The project aims to link the Connah's Quay-based facility to nearby CO2 transport and storage infrastructure, as part of the Hynet cluster in the north-west of the UK.

This is one of the country's most industrialised regions, with significant sources of CO2 emissions.

The agreement is part of the UK's Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) program, which aims to contribute to the government's goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050.
