Baker Hughes: collaboration agreement with Hanwha Group

(CercleFinance.com) - Baker Hughes announces the signing of a development and collaboration agreement with Hanwha Power Systems and Hanwha Ocean for a new small turbine for ammonia applications.


Hanwha Power Systems is a South Korean company specializing in propulsion systems and energy solutions, and belongs to the Hanwha Group, one of South Korea's largest industrial conglomerates.

The project aims to create a turbine suitable for marine, land and offshore applications, using Baker Hughes gas turbine technology and Hanwha's ammonia combustion system.

Hanwha Ocean will adopt this solution for its future vessels, in order to promote maritime decarbonization.

Full testing of the turbine with ammonia is scheduled for late 2027.
