UMG: Kendrick Lamar triumphs at the Grammy Awards

(CercleFinance.com) - American rapper Kendrick Lamar triumphed on Sunday night at the 67th Grammy Awards, taking home five trophies, including Best Record of the Year and Best Song of the Year for his track 'Not Like Us'.


The hip hop star - signed to Universal Music Group's Interscope label - was also awarded Best Rap Song of the Year, Best Rap Performance of the Year and Best Video of the Year, again for 'Not Like Us'.

Other artists in the UMG family, Chappell Roan (Island Records) was crowned best newcomer of the year, while Doechii (TDE/Capitol Records) took the prize for best rap album of the year with his opus entitled 'Alligator Bites Never Heal'.

Sabrina Carpenter (Island Records/UMPG) took the trophy for Best Pop Vocal Album of the Year, and Lady Gaga (Interscope) for Best Duo Performance for 'Die With A Smile', performed with Bruno Mars.

The Rolling Stones (Interscope/Polydor) won the Grammy for Best Rock Album for 'Hackney Diamonds', while St Vincent (Total Pleasure/VMG) won for Best Alternative Music Album.

Neverender', by French group Justice and Australian outfit Tame Impala (Because/VMG), was chosen as the best dance/electronic recording of the year.

On the Amsterdam stock exchange, UMG shares were up 0.3% on Monday after this awards razzia, outperforming an AEX index down 0.7% against a backdrop of trade tensions between the United States and its main partners.
