Safran: EASA certifies ENGINeUS electric engine

(CercleFinance.com) - Safran reports that the ENGINeUS electric engine from Safran Electrical & Power has become "the first engine certified by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for new air mobility".

This certification, obtained after 1,500 hours of testing and more than 100 flight hours, marks the culmination of four years' work with EASA.
The engine integrates power and control electronics, delivering 125 kW of power with a power-to-weight ratio of 5 kW/kg.

Safran plans to start series production in 2026 in France and the UK, with a capacity of over 1,000 engines per year.
