Volkswagen: unveiling the ambitions of VW Passenger Cars
(CercleFinance.com) - At a staff meeting in Wolfsburg, Thomas Schäfer, Managing Director of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, unveiled the brand's plans for the future.
The automaker will introduce a new entry-level electric model in March, with sales scheduled for 2027
This vehicle, designed for the European market, will join the Group's family of electric city cars, which includes the production version of the ID. 2all, expected in 2026 at a base price of less than E25,000.
Schäfer emphasized that the Wolfsburg plant would play a central role in this transition, including production of the future electric Golf and the electric T-Roc. Daniela Cavallo, Chairman of the Works Council, added that Wolfsburg would continue to produce flagship models, ensuring more than 500,000 units a year.
Under the 'Zukunft Volkswagen' agreement signed at the end of December 2024, the brand aims to become the technology leader in the generalist segment by 2030.
Its three-stage plan calls first for a strengthening of competitiveness, then the launch of nine new models by 2027, before establishing Volkswagen as the benchmark for global electric mobility.
