BASF: Prexio insecticide to be launched in Asia

(CercleFinance.com) - BASF announces that it has begun the registration of Prexio Active, a new insecticide active ingredient designed specifically to control the four species of rice leafhoppers.


BASF reports that regulatory dossiers have recently been submitted in key Asia-Pacific markets.

This marks an important milestone in the expansion of BASF's global insecticide portfolio and in the company's position in delivering sustainable innovations to rice growers in Asia.

'Asian rice growers are looking for advanced solutions that offer both potent and sustainable control of harmful rice leafhoppers, against a background of increasing insecticide resistance and growing global demand for rice', emphasized Harold Bastiaans, Vice President Global Insecticide Research and Seed Solutions at BASF Agricultural Solutions.

According to BASF, Prexio offers 'outstanding efficacy' and long-term residual control against all harmful life stages of the four rice leafhopper species. The company adds that 'studies have shown that Prexio Active also fortifies rice plants with superior plant health benefits'.
