Henkel: sale of private labels in America
(CercleFinance.com) - Henkel announced on Friday that it had signed an agreement to sell its private label business in North America, for an undisclosed sum.
German consumer goods group Henkel says the business, which represents annual sales of around 500 million euros, will be sold to First Quality Enterprises, a company based near New York.
This division supplies private labels with detergents, fabric softeners and dishwashing liquids.
Although the US market for detergents and household products is the largest in the world, Henkel does not consider these activities to be 'strategic'.
In North America, the company now intends to concentrate on higher-potential brands such as all laundry detergent, Snuggle fabric softener, Dial skin care products, Schwarzkopf shampoos and got2b cosmetics.
With this divestment, the Düsseldorf-based group says it has now completed the process of optimizing its product portfolio, which it had begun in 2022.
On the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, Henkel shares rose by 1.3% following this announcement at mid-day Friday, posting the third-best performance on the DAX index.
