Ericsson: private 5G network deployed for Jaguar Land Rover

(CercleFinance.com) - Ericsson announced on Wednesday that it has deployed a private 5G network at a UK production site of car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover (JLR).


The Swedish equipment supplier says its high-speed connectivity technology has enabled JLR to 'cut the copper' at its Solihull plant by replacing its wired networks with 5G capabilities enabling real-time data transmission.

This state-of-the-art process for 'Industry 4.0' aims to support strategic production applications, such as vision systems, IoT sensors and production tools.

The environment must also integrate the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence and automation, with a particular focus on Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs).

Private 5G also enables JLR to quickly replace or reconfigure faulty connected tools, significantly reducing downtime and facilitating production line adjustments.
