Rio Tinto: update after tropical cyclone Zelia

(CercleFinance.com) - The group reports that Rio Tinto's port, rail and mining operations have resumed following the passage of tropical cyclone Zelia over the Pilbara region of Western Australia.


Vessel loading resumed at the ports of Cape Lambert and Dampier on 15 February, and all mines are operational, management says.

Since the beginning of the year, the port of Dampier has been closed for 10 days and there have been 13 days of closure at Cape Lambert due to tropical cyclones Sean, Taliah, Vince and Zelia.

Q1 iron ore shipments will be affected by these weather events.

Pilbara's iron ore shipment forecast for 2025 remains unchanged at 323 to 338 million tonnes.
