Vodafone: a new research center in Spain
(CercleFinance.com) - Vodafone, AST SpaceMobile and the University of Málaga launch a new research and validation center for space and terrestrial mobile broadband in Europe.
Located in Vodafone's European Innovation Center in Málaga, Spain, the center, which will open by summer, is supported by an initial grant from the Spanish Space Agency.
The center supports the company's goal of providing ubiquitous mobile coverage to its 340 million customers in 15 countries, and to its network partners in a further 45 markets.
Vodafone aims to achieve the introduction of high-speed mobile connectivity via satellite direct to the smartphone across Europe in 2025 and 2026.
Alberto Ripepi, Vodafone Group Networks Director, said: 'Vodafone, in collaboration with AST SpaceMobile and the University of Málaga, will partner with like-minded organizations to build harmonious space and terrestrial networks to achieve Europe's ambitious goals for ubiquitous digital connectivity.
