Nokia: extended partnership with Bell Canada in 5G
(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia announced Tuesday that it has extended its partnership with Bell Canada, whose network it will upgrade with its open, cloud-based Radio Access Network (RAN) technologies.
The Finnish equipment manufacturer explains that the agreement is intended to improve the agility, scalability and efficiency of Bell's 5G network, but also to offer a better customer experience and stimulate innovation thanks to a flexible and open architecture.
In detail, Nokia will combine its AirScale base stations with the Red Hat OpenShift application platform and Dell Technologies to create an open, intelligent and autonomous network.
The group will also supply its MantaRay NM AI-based radio network management solution, which supports all radio and mobile core technologies to optimize network performance and efficiency.
Nokia explains that its 'anyRAN' approach will provide Bell with flexibility for the evolution of its RAN network, whether it be custom, hybrid or cloud RAN solutions, by promoting network monetization, interoperability, supplier diversification and reduced supplier dependency.
