IBM: towards the acquisition of DataStax to strengthen watsonx
(CercleFinance.com) - IBM announced on Tuesday its intention to acquire DataStax, an AI-based data warehousing platform, in order to enrich the functionalities of its watsonx generative AI offering.
In a press release, IBM explains that DataStax is behind several solutions such as AstraDB, DataStax Enterprise and NoSQL based on the 'open-source' Apache Cassandra and Langflow languages, a strategy it says it intends to maintain.
Founded in 2020 and based in Santa Clara (California), DataStax boasts a hundred or so customers including FedEx, Capital One, Home Depot and Verizon.
The acquisition, for which financial terms have not been disclosed, should be finalized during the second quarter of 2025.
