TotalEnergies: opens 8th biomethane unit in France
(CercleFinance.com) - TotalEnergies announces the commissioning of BioNorrois, its 8ᵉ biomethane production unit in France, located in Normandy.
This facility will inject 153 GWh per year into the GRTgaz network, covering the equivalent consumption of more than 30,000 inhabitants.
Cristal Union, a 10% shareholder, will supply up to 80% of the organic matter in the form of beet pulp.
The 150,000 tonnes of annual digestate will be valorized by Cristal Union and NatUp, reducing the use of chemical fertilizers by 5,500 tonnes and avoiding 30,000 tonnes of CO₂. More than 130 farmers and industrialists have been involved in developing the project.
' With this project, TotalEnergies strengthens its position in the biogas market and contributes to the decarbonization of the French energy mix,' said Karine Boissy-Rousseau, VP Green Gases at TotalEnergies.
