BMW: leading US automotive exporter
(CercleFinance.com) - BMW Manufacturing has confirmed that it will be the leading automotive exporter by value to the United States in 2024, according to data published this month by the U.
S. Department of Commerce.
The Spartanburg plant (South Carolina, USA) exported nearly 225,000 BMW Sports Activity Vehicles and Coupés last year, worth more than $10 billion.
In addition, since 2014, the South Carolina plant has exported more than 2.7 million BMWs, or around 63% of its total production, worth more than $104 billion.
In 2024, the plant assembled 396,117 sports cars and coupes, including more than 57,000 plug-in hybrids (14% of the total).
BMW reports that the expansion of the X3/X4 assembly hall continues as the Spartanburg plant prepares to assemble all-electric vehicles. The first electric vehicle will be shipped at the end of 2026. The group also plans to assemble at least six all-electric models in the USA by 2030.
The automaker points out that its plant employs over 11,000 people and remains the Group's largest production site.
