IBM: acquisition of HashiCorp finalized
(CercleFinance.com) - IBM announced on Thursday that it had completed the acquisition of HashiCorp, a specialist in automating and securing infrastructures to power hybrid cloud and generative AI.
The American technology group explains that the transaction will enable it to generate synergies in strategic business lines, with its Red Hat and watsonx subsidiaries, as well as in data security and consulting, at a time when nearly 75% of businesses are now using the hybrid cloud, according to its estimates.
By 2028, generative AI is expected to have contributed to the creation of one billion new cloud-native applications, it adds.
The transaction, formalized in April 2024, resulted in a price of $35 per HashiCorp share, representing an enterprise value of $6.4 billion.
